Ammonoidea, Ancyloceratidae, Acrioceras tabarelli, (Astier, 1851)This specimen was repaired during preparation. Great preservation in this rare specimen. Other localities do not preserve in aragonite like the specimens from Castellane.
This specimen is an example of species sexual dimorphism. Acrioceras tabarelli is a smaller microconch (m) or male form of
Emericeras emerici
the larger
macroconch (M) or
female of the species.
Emericeras emerici is a synonym of Crioceratites emerici, which will be offered for sale in the future.
