    Description

Imperial Lustre Rose Four Roses Footed Bowl (
    Large
Fruit or Salad Bowl) RARE Green to Electric Purple . Imperial Carnival Glass.  Fluted and ruffled rim. Spectacular. Four full Roses and 6 rose buds in the interior bowl portion with 14 leaves.  Even the thorns are depicted.  Just lovely.  Three applied feet with cute curls at the end. On the exterior of the bowl there are four rose panels joined together by a lovely ribbing.  Each panel has 2 full roses, four buds and 6 leaves. The center bottom had one full rose in the green.
Just down from the top edge of those bowls, you will find a zig-zag design composed of 3 lines which encircle the interior.
The bowl is purple closer to the interior of the middle of the bowl and fades out to the full green.
It measures 11 inches rim to rim by 4 1/2 inches tall. The legs are 2 and 1/2 inches long and the center medallion on the underside is almost 3 inches wide.
As far as I've found this is a "Salad Bowl introduced in 1915 and goes under the pattern name American Beauty Roses. Back in the 1960s, Marion Hartung classed the Imperial rose pattern that features two open roses and four buds as Open Rose. She gave the name of Lustre Rose to all other pieces: water and table sets, and bowls that feature “four large flowers in high relief and six buds”. Mrs Hartung further observed that on the Lustre Rose bowls, “the background is stippled and ends in a saw tooth edge outlined by three raised lines”. You can see this “saw tooth edge” etc., on the pieces in the catalogue ad shown on the previous page." (From Carnival Glass World Wide on line citation. I have a photo of catalogue bowl I can message you upon request.)
Excellent antique condition with no cracks, chips, or repairs. The color is excellent.
On one of the underside panels there is a 3 inch long tooling mark but it is not a scratch and it isn't a protrusion in the glass either.  Just a tooling mark.
No wear to the feet at all. Please see the photos for details as they are a part of the description. I have additional photos if you would like to see them.
