Description
Up for auction at the Grand Antique Mall, located in Cincinnati, Ohio isa BOEHM BISQUE TUMBLER PIGEON
in pristine condition.
Edward Marshall Boehm
(1913-1969)
and his wife, Helen Franzolin, founded
E.M. Boehm Studios
in 1950.
Edward Boehm
had recently
perfected a hard-paste material that he used in his
sculpture -- which became so suddenly in demand that in 1951, the
Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York ordered two Boehm statues for the museum's collection.
Established in New Jersey, the Boehm factory made dishes as well as a variety of lifelike birds that caught the attention of top collectors. After Edward Boehm's death in 1969, the company's production began to slow and in 2014, Richard Barone, founder of the Museum of American Porcelain Art, purchased the Boehm company and all of its contents. The Boehm wing of the Museum will be opening soon in Cleveland.
Boehm porcelain is in permanent collections in over 134 museums throughout the world including
Buckingham Palace, Elys
ѐ
e Palace, Vatican Museum, Hermitage, Museum of Fine Arts (Houston), Smithsonian, White House (D.C.), Los Angeles County Museum of Art -- and hundreds more.
